Greetings from Your Network Superintendent

There are defining moments when you know God is leading in a specific direction.

I will wait until I sense His direction before making any major decision. I have learned the hard way that there are consequences to not waiting. Human tendency is to fix it, to make things happen; however, shortcuts and quick fixes always prove costly. Knowing His will and waiting for His perfect timing is a challenge. The tension is patiently waiting for God’s best or impatiently settling for second best.

Our way v. God’s way, which will it be? Ask, seek, and knock for God’s specific direction.

Some defining moments when I knew God’s specific direction:

1. May 16, 1971, being called into the ministry.

2. In 1973, knowing that Susan was “the one” to be my life partner.

3. In 1987, knowing that God was leading us to pastor in Ashland City.

4. In 1996, God giving us property to relocate the church.

5. In 2009, knowing that our time in Ashland City was finished.

6. In 2012, knowing the property for the future home of the TNAG office building.

Every time you sense His specific direction, remember that the devil is always in the details. There is vision casting, more praying and believing, processing as others buy into the vision. Don’t rush ahead of God. When you rush to “make things happen,” you get an Ishmel and a boatload of regrets. There will be a period of waiting, yes, patiently waiting for God to supernaturally bring His vision to pass.
