Network Update—04/04/2024
“And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left” (Luke 23:33 NKJV). Growing up, we would regularly sing a powerful song, “The Old Rugged Cross.” You hardly ever hear it used in today’s worship sets. I also loved the name, “Calvary” Assembly of God, primarily because Calvary became my home church when we moved to Nashville in 1969. A young 32 year old Glenn Burks was the pastor. He led us to obtain property and to build a church building. He was our pastor at Calvary for 31 years and he is still my pastor today.
Jesus was crucified at Calvary:
Calvary— where the fingers of OT prophecies pointed to.
Calvary— where we come with our sin and become the righteousness of God.
Calvary— where we come in darkness and receive the light of Christ.
Calvary— where we come deserving judgment and receive the grace of Christ.
Calvary— where are we come with our death and we receive the forgiveness of Christ.
Calvary— where Satan's head was crushed.
Calvary— where the fountain of salvation was opened.
Calvary— where our death sentence was revoked.
I am thankful for Calvary and all of you in the Tennessee Ministry Network!
