Greetings from TNMN Superintendent, Terry Bailey!
“Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God!” This amazed them. But Jesus said again, “Dear children, it is very hard to enter the Kingdom of God. In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!” The disciples were astounded. “Then who in the world can be saved?” they asked. Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.” (Mark 10:23-27 NLT)
There may be those whom you consider it almost impossible for them to be saved. A drug dealer? A town drunk? A pedophile? The richest person in town?
In this passage of Scripture, Jesus loved the rich man and knew that the rich man was controlled by his wealth. He advised him to sell his possessions, to give the money to the poor, and to follow Jesus. The rich man was not willing, so he went away from Jesus upset. Jesus then described how difficult it was for someone to stop trusting in their riches and to start trusting completely in God. There is nothing wrong with being rich unless your material possessions control you and make you self-sufficient and independent of God.
Today’s Challenge:
In your opinion, who is the worse sinner you know?
Surrender everything you own to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
All things are possible with God.
