Senior Adult Ministry

Welcome to our Senior Adult Ministry (SAM) website! One of the goals of the Tennessee Ministry Network (TNMN) is to see senior ministries flourish in our local churches. We want to encourage our senior adults in our TNMN to participate in our SAM activities. They give opportunities for fellowship, spiritual growth, and provide helpful information to our seniors. We hope that as you pursue the SAM website you will find information along with links to various resources that will be beneficial and help promote SAM’s in our TNMN sections.

The TNMN wanted to share a little about our new Senior Adult Ministry (SAM) Director, John DeSanctis and his wife, Deanna. John is a retired, ordained minister with the Tennessee District. He served 25 years in Foreign Missions, was the Director of Memphis Teen Challenge for 10 years, and with the Global Teen Challenge for 2 years. The Lord changed their direction in ministry as they met so many senior adults that were not ready to retire from Christian service. They desire to find their place in the church and “finish their race strong” (Acts 20:24) through ministry, community, and fellowship.
Recent studies have indicated that individuals over the age of 65 will quickly outnumber children by the year, 2035. These studies, clearly indicate where we are heading as a nation and as the church. Senior adults face many challenges, the lest of which is their health. How do they factor that into their service for the Lord as they begin to face their final calling? SAM (Senior Adult Ministry) can and should play an active role in churches and our lives, as seniors approach their final calling.
"So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” (Psalms 90:12).
